What Do Physical Therapists Do
Today's physical therapists do much more than restore function to traumatized war victims as they did 70 years ago. Besides the obvious, a physical therapist may provide for many types and ages of patients. They may work with burn victims to prevent abnormal scarring or movement loss; or with stroke victims to regain movement and return to independent living; with cancer patients to help relieve discomfort; and even with cardiac patients to improve their quality of life through conditioning.
Perhaps as important, your therapist may provide information regarding the behavioral changes necessary to make desired lifestyle changes. It has been well documented that patients in recovery from an injury will often reevaluate their lives and choose to implement positive lifestyle changes. The physical therapist serves in a comprehensive and dynamic healthcare role, helping to maintain the quality of life for millions of Americans.
Other than the accident or injury itself, perhaps nothing is more traumatic than your first physical therapy visit. Though you are healing, you may question whether you will ever function as you did in the past. This is an understandable and natural reaction. Fortunately, our bodies are wonderful and healing machines.... if you receive the proper care and direction. Our professional therapy staff has many years of experience in dealing with the physical and emotional feelings that you are going through. What sets us apart is our effort to personalize each situation as if it were our first time too. In short, we care!

The Patient's Role
Our philosophy is to work together as a team. To realize our potential, the patient must be an active participant in your own recovery. Your/Our success is a result of our effort. With continually rising healthcare costs, one thing is clear; we must contribute to and take responsibility for our own healthcare and wellness.
